This is Ladakh for the dreamers — deep into the remote Changthang plateau to the sapphire lake of Tso Moriri, then to Hanle, India's first Dark Sky Reserve, home to a high-altitude observatory and skies so clear the Milky Way casts a shadow.
You acclimatise for two days in Leh, then travel by private vehicle across big, empty country, staying in simple homestays and camps, before ending at the famous Pangong Lake. We arrange the special permits Hanle requires, carry oxygen, and keep the pace steady on the high plateau.

Eight days across Ladakh's remote lakes and dark skies
- Arrive at Leh airport; transfer to your hotel and rest.

- Visit Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace and the monasteries of Shey and Thiksey.

- Drive south-east along the Indus, stopping at the Chumathang hot springs and Mahe.
- Reach Korzok village on the shore of Tso Moriri by late afternoon.
- Sunset over the lake, then one of the first big dark-sky nights; dinner and overnight in a homestay/camp.
- Drive across the wide plateau via Nyoma and Loma towards Hanle.
- Wildlife, nomad camps and enormous horizons all the way.
- Reach Hanle by evening; settle into a homestay and wait for the stars.

- Stop at Thiksey or Shey along the Indus if time allows.

Dark Sky Etiquette: Hanle is a protected Dark Sky Reserve — use only red-light torches at night, keep vehicle headlights and white lights off, and follow local guidance so the skies stay pristine.
Altitude & Health: The Changthang stays above 4,000m for days. You acclimatise in Leh first, and we carry oxygen — but anyone with heart or lung conditions should consult a doctor before booking.
Permits & Border Area: Tso Moriri, Hanle & Pangong need Inner Line Permits, and Hanle has extra border restrictions — we handle these, but need your ID copy well in advance.
Simple Stays: Accommodation on the plateau is homestays and basic camps — clean and warm, but modest. That's the trade-off for reaching such remote places.

Yes. Tso Moriri, Hanle and Pangong all require Inner Line Permits, which Yatraved arranges and includes. We only need a copy of your photo ID in advance. Hanle has additional restrictions that we manage for you.
