About the Grand Ladakh Tour

The complete Ladakh circuit — desert dunes, blue lakes and ancient monasteries

This is Ladakh's greatest hits in one well-paced trip. Starting from Leh, you ease into the altitude with a gentle Sham Valley day, then cross the mighty Khardung La into the dunes and monasteries of Nubra Valley, before reaching the surreal, colour-shifting waters of Pangong Lake.

Every leg is designed around altitude — a full rest day on arrival, a lower-altitude second day, and a route that climbs gradually so you feel good throughout. We travel by private vehicle with a Ladakhi driver-cum-guide, carry oxygen as a precaution, and handle all your Inner Line Permits.

Ideal for first-timers, friends and families who want to see the icons of Ladakh comfortably, without a rushed schedule.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Six days, paced for altitude and built around the icons

  • Land at Leh airport, where our team meets you and transfers you to the hotel.
  • Complete rest for the day — this is the single most important thing you can do for a smooth trip.
  • An easy evening stroll to Leh market once you feel settled; early dinner and overnight in Leh.
💡 Pro Tip: Drink plenty of water, skip alcohol on Day 1, and don't plan anything strenuous — your body is adjusting to the altitude.
  • Drive the Sham Valley loop — Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, the curious Magnetic Hill, and the Indus–Zanskar Sangam (river confluence).
  • Visit the Hall of Fame museum and, time permitting, the Alchi or Likir monastery.
  • Back in Leh, explore Shanti Stupa and Leh Palace at golden hour.
  • Dinner and overnight in Leh.
🌟 Note: Sham Valley sits lower than Leh, which is exactly why we do it now — it helps your body before the big climbs tomorrow.
  • Set off early and climb to Khardung La (~18,380 ft) for photos and chai at the top.
  • Descend into Nubra Valley; visit Diskit Monastery and its towering Maitreya Buddha statue.
  • Reach the Hunder sand dunes for a Bactrian (double-humped) camel ride at sunset.
  • Dinner and overnight at a Nubra camp or guesthouse.
💡 Pro Tip: It's cold and windy at Khardung La — keep a jacket handy on top and don't linger too long at that altitude.
  • Drive from Nubra to Pangong along the dramatic Shyok river route.
  • Arrive at Pangong Lake in the afternoon — time to soak in the changing blues and take photos along the shore.
  • Evening at leisure by the lake; watch the stars come out over the water.
  • Dinner and overnight at a lakeside camp.
🌟 Note: Nights at Pangong (~14,000 ft) are very cold even in summer — the camps provide heavy quilts, but carry thermals.
  • Catch the early-morning light at Pangong before starting back.
  • Return towards Leh over Chang La pass, stopping at Thiksey and Shey monasteries along the way.
  • Arrive Leh by evening — free time for last-minute shopping in the market.
  • Dinner and overnight in Leh.
💡 Pro Tip: Pangong's colours are best just after sunrise — set an alarm, it's worth it before the drive back.
  • After breakfast, we transfer you to Leh airport for your onward flight.
  • Trip concludes with the mountains in your rear-view mirror — until next time.
💡 Pro Tip: Leh flights leave very early and can be weather-affected — book onward connections with a comfortable buffer.
