About this Do Dham Yatra
The two "western" dhams — sources of the Yamuna and Ganga
This Do Dham covers the two western shrines — the source of the Yamuna at Yamunotri and the source-shrine of the Ganga at Gangotri. It follows the Yamuna and Bhagirathi valleys through Barkot, Uttarkashi and the beautiful pine village of Harsil.
With only one short trek (Yamunotri) and lots of scenic driving, it's one of the gentler pilgrimages — and a natural first half of the full Char Dham. Hotels, pure-veg meals, transfers and registration are handled.

Important Notes
Please read before booking
Yatra registration: Char Dham Yatra registration (the tourist card / biometric registration) is mandatory for all pilgrims. We help you complete it before your journey.
Kedarnath trek: Kedarnath involves a roughly 16–18 km uphill trek from Gaurikund. Ponies, palki (palanquin) and helicopter shuttles are available at your own cost. A basic fitness level is advised.
Best time: The shrines open around late April and close near Diwali. April–June and September–October are ideal; the July–August monsoon can bring landslides and road delays.
Altitude & weather: the higher shrines are at altitude with cold, fast-changing weather even in summer — carry warm layers year-round.
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before you book
It covers Yamunotri, the source-shrine of the Yamuna, and Gangotri, the source-shrine of the Ganga — the two "western" dhams of the Char Dham circuit.
Only one short trek — about 6 km up to Yamunotri from Janki Chatti (with pony/palki available). Gangotri is reachable by road, so the rest is scenic driving.
Because it has just the one short Yamunotri climb and no high-altitude trek like Kedarnath, it is one of the easier dham combinations — good for families and older pilgrims.
Harsil is a beautiful pine-and-orchard village on the Bhagirathi between Uttarkashi and Gangotri. We include a night there so you enjoy the valley rather than just passing through.
Yes — the western Do Dham is the natural first half of the full Char Dham. We can extend it to add Kedarnath and Badrinath for the complete circuit.
Both open around Akshaya Tritiya (late April) and close near Diwali. This trip runs through the open season; exact dates follow the temple calendar each year.
Yes — registration is mandatory for Yamunotri and Gangotri as well. We complete it for you before the yatra begins.
Both are around 3,100–3,290 m, so mornings and evenings are cold even in summer and nights can be near freezing early and late in the season. Carry proper woollens.
