Altitude: Spiti, Kinnaur and Chandratal sit at 3,000–4,300m. We build in acclimatisation and keep the pace gentle to reduce the risk of mountain sickness (AMS).
Roads & Season: High passes like Kunzum and the Atal Tunnel route are seasonal; the summer Spiti circuit runs roughly June–October, while winter Spiti is a special snow experience.
Connectivity: Mobile network and ATMs are limited beyond Kaza and Reckong Peo. Postpaid SIMs work best; carry enough cash.
Permits: Indian nationals do not need inner-line permits for the main Spiti and Kinnaur circuit; we advise on any local requirements before you travel.

Yes - it captures Kinnaur's most beautiful spots (Sangla, Chitkul, Kalpa) in just five days, at a moderate altitude that needs less acclimatisation than Spiti. It is ideal when you are short on time.
Sangla, Chitkul and Kalpa sit around 2,600-3,450m. Most travellers adjust comfortably; we still advise easy first days, good hydration and rest.
Kamru fort is a historic multi-storey wooden tower-fort near Sangla, a fine example of traditional Kinnauri architecture, with a temple and village views. It is a short, worthwhile visit.
About 7-8 hours along the Sutlej - a long but scenic day. We start early and build in breaks; the winding roads are handled by experienced hill drivers.
April to June for pleasant weather and blossoms, and September to October for the apple harvest and clear peaks. We avoid peak monsoon due to landslide risk on Kinnaur roads.
Yes - the moderate altitude, gentle sightseeing and short walks make it suitable for families and older travellers who want a Himalayan experience without going too high.
Absolutely - Kalpa is the gateway to Spiti. With extra days we can continue to Nako, Tabo and Kaza, turning this into a full Kinnaur-Spiti trip.
Coverage is decent in Sangla and Kalpa (mainly BSNL and Jio) but patchy in remote spots like Chitkul. Carry a postpaid SIM and expect limited connectivity in the valleys.
