Important Notes
Please read before booking
Best Time: March–June is pleasant and green; December–February brings snow to Shimla, Manali and Kufri; July–September sees monsoon showers and occasional landslides.
How to Reach: The trip is by road in a private vehicle. Most itineraries start from Chandigarh or Delhi; the nearest airports are Chandigarh, Kullu (Bhuntar) and Gaggal (Dharamshala).
Hill Roads: Himachal''s mountain roads are winding and slower than plains. We plan realistic drive times and use experienced local drivers.
Money & Network: Carry some cash for smaller towns; ATMs are in main towns. Mobile network is good in cities and patchy in remote valleys.
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before you book
Manikaran, in the Parvati valley, is famous for its natural hot springs, a revered Sikh gurudwara and a Shiva temple. Pilgrims cook food in the boiling springs, and you can bathe in the hot-water baths - a unique spiritual and geothermal stop.
Manikaran is about a 2.5-3 hour drive from Manali via Kullu and Kasol in the Parvati valley. We do it as a full-day excursion with a langar (community meal) at the gurudwara.
Yes - there are separate hot-water bath areas for men and women at the gurudwara and temple. The water is genuinely hot (near boiling at the source), so it is a warm, therapeutic dip.
Yes - Kullu is known for its handwoven shawls and caps, riverside temples and the vibrant Kullu Dussehra festival. We stop for shawl workshops and river views on the way.
In winter, Solang and the Rohtang/Atal Tunnel area offer plenty of snow. In other seasons, snow may require the higher Atal Tunnel/Rohtang excursion, which is included.
Easily - Kasol is on the way to Manikaran in the Parvati valley. We can add a night or a stop in Kasol to combine the backpacker vibe with the hot springs.
Yes - it is a gentle visit with short walking. The gurudwara langar is inclusive and welcoming, making it comfortable for families and older travellers.
Dress modestly and carry a head covering (scarf or cloth) to enter the gurudwara, as is customary. Footwear is left outside; the floors near the springs can be warm.
