Important Notes
Please read before booking
Permits (Arunachal): Indian travellers need an Inner Line Permit (ILP) for Arunachal Pradesh — we arrange it; carry your photo ID and passport-size photos. Assam and Meghalaya need no permit.
Altitude: Tawang sits at about 3,000m and is reached over the 4,170m Sela Pass. We break the ascent (Bomdila/Dirang) to acclimatise and keep the pace gentle.
Long Drives: North-East distances are long on winding mountain roads (Tezpur–Tawang is a full day). Expect scenic but lengthy travel days; we plan realistic timings.
Best Time: October–April for clear mountain views; Sela Pass can see snow in winter, and the high roads are weather-dependent.
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before you book
This 12-day version adds extra nights - notably more time in Meghalaya (a Cherrapunji overnight and a fuller Dawki-Mawlynnong day) and better acclimatisation before Tawang - so the same iconic triangle is covered at a more relaxed, comfortable pace.
Yes - the ILP is mandatory for Indian travellers in Arunachal Pradesh, and we arrange it for you. Carry your photo ID and passport-size photos. Assam and Meghalaya need no permit.
By building in an acclimatisation night at Dirang before crossing the 4,170m Sela Pass to Tawang (~3,000m), keeping the pace gentle, and monitoring everyone. Inform us of any health conditions in advance.
These high-altitude spots near the border require additional special permits arranged locally and are weather-dependent. We advise on feasibility during your stay and arrange them where possible.
October to April - Kaziranga is open (November to April), Meghalaya is clear, and the Arunachal mountain roads are generally passable. Winter brings snow to Sela Pass, which is scenic but can cause delays.
For three states with long mountain drives and high altitude, 12 days is a comfortable amount - it avoids the rushed feeling of shorter combos and gives time to actually enjoy Tawang, Kaziranga and Meghalaya.
Comfortable SUVs/tempo travellers suited to North-East mountain roads, with experienced local drivers. The vehicle type depends on group size, which we confirm at booking.
Yes, if in good general health - there is no trekking, but the long drives and altitude at Sela/Tawang require reasonable fitness. The relaxed 12-day pace makes it more comfortable than the shorter version; we tailor rest as needed.
